NY MODIFIEDS 3D PRINTED MODIFIED SLOT CARS AND ACCESORIES.

3D printed slot cars – Bodies – Chassis – Wheels/Inserts – Drivers – Accesories

The future has been here for a few years now, and it was time to get involved with 21st Century technology...

We drew up an accurate 3D model of a '35 Chevy Vintage Modified Coupe that ran Islip Speedway back in late 60s, early 70s. In addition to this '35 Coupe there is a '37 Chevy Coupe in the works as well!

Work-in-progress on the Islip Speedway Jarzombeck Offset Coupe; a 3D printed Vintage Modified Coupe available soon in 1/32!

3D printing technology is moving quickly and I expect it to show more gains in the coming years - even months. That said, the surface finish and detail on our test car is better than expected. Ideally we would want to replicate iconic asphalt Modifieds from the Golden Era (1968-74?) that raced here on Long Island, and from New York, and New England.

I think the end game will be to offer bodies, chassis, and even a proper RTR 1/32 Vintage Modified to like minded folks... mostly aimed at the home racer. Initially we will offer wheels/inserts and accessories as we start to work in this area of the hobby.

Below are "Wide-5" wheel inserts created with high resolution 3D printing for scale appearance! We figure there will be lots of variations offered as we build up the library of wheels and inserts. These inserts are profesionally resin cast from 3D printed masters.

We are just starting to 'roll' these out!

3D printing technology is moving quickly and I expect it to show more gains in the coming years - even months. That said, the surface finish and detail of the UV cured acrylic polymer used to print the inserts is better than we expected.
We used this acrylic to model specific 'Wide-5' wheel inserts. The 'Wide-5' wheel is the setup used by the actual 1:1 Modifieds. Use the four-bolt hubs up front and the eight-bolt hubs for the rear.
If you click/enlarge the photo of the raw unpainted wheel you can see fine detail, hexagonal wheel lug nuts and cylindrical studs.

These inserts are professionally resin cast from 3D printed masters and are sized to fit the Pro-Track 1/2" hub - these wheels are extremely common, coming in many foam tire sizes including .790, .825, .850, .880, .910, and through 1.00". Run at commercial and fast home wood ovals almost everywhere.

These inserts are professionally resin cast from 3D printed masters and are sized to fit the Pro-Track 5/8" hub as found on the 27mm Pro-Track and 27m H&R wheel/tires - Very popular with slot car racers who want a scale appearance for their hard body Modified builds.

These are also used by static modelers - the 5/8" hub insert is an important size not often covered for slot car racing.

Here is a link to a review of the inserts on Home Racing World (a great oval track slot racing forum): New insert wheels in 3D – Check it out.

A couple quick comments on what you are looking at in the Home Racing World review:
These inserts are sized to fit the CB Design 15x12 insert wheel. In the review they were cut down to fit the 15x11 - it does show that the material can certainly take some grinding, milling, sanding etc.
These inserts are sized for a tight press fit in the rim. If need be, the inserts can be glued in place, or a thin piece of transparent Scotch tape can be partly wrapped around the insert.
